Belt lipectomy

Cosmetic body surgery is indicated for all people with an excess of skin. Following significant weight loss, the skin loses its elasticity and aesthetic correction may be necessary.

The operation

A belt lipectomy is a relatively major procedure that provides astonishing results. It corrects, all at the same time, the abdomen, flanks, back, and buttocks. It is primarily for patients who have lost a lot of weight, such as those who have undergone bariatric surgery.

This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and requires a hospital stay of at least three days.

Postoperative care

Bruising and swelling may appear and regress within 10-20 days after surgery.

Typically, pain is minor, and limited to some tugging sensations and shooting pain. The healing period can be somewhat unpleasant due to tension to the sutures. During this time, it will be necessary to avoid all abrupt stretching movements. Sporting activities can be resumed only gradually from the sixth week following surgery.

The scar is often pinkish in colour for the first three months, and then gradually fades during the first and second year. It must not be exposed to the sun for at least a year.
